Ok, we can tell you precisely nothing about the final version of the
Slingbox Catcher (
recently delayed) or the fresh new SOLO we're just now hearing about for the first time (thanks a LOT, FCC), but we can tell you they're both approved by the government for use in the US of A, and that usually means it won't be long until we'll see them on store shelves. Also, in case you didn't notice, they're referring to the SlingCatcher as the Slingbox Catcher now. Hmph.

Hola care bolas¡¡¡

Not sure what the SOLO is, perhaps just an RCA video input with no sound. Slingcatcher did sound a little pornographic, so it's cool that SBCatcher is the new name. DZ will be happy I'm sure :)

I think sling box is damn cool!

Looks neat. I want one!

Actually, if you read the Test Reports, you can glean some interesting information about both products - for example, the Solo has a USB port than supports USB mass storage devices. Just one tidbit from the report. ;-)

I read the test reports and posted a bit more info: http://www.tivolovers.com/2007/09/05/fcc-leaks-more-of-sling-medias-secrets/

No wireless port on the Slingbox Catcher?
Frankenstein Black @ Sep 5th 2007 11:58AM
Said it before and will say it again, RUN (don't walk) to your nearest electronic store and get a SlingBox (I have 2)! And not because its an awesome product/s but because any day now some greedy mega corporation will try to lawsuit SlingMedia into oblivion!
Why? Because "they" believe this time shifting of "their" content should come with ADDITIONAL FEES!! (i.e. $10 more per month if you want to access stuff remotely via cell phone or laptop). Are you still sitting there reading this? RRUUUUUUNN!

DishNetworks parent EchoStar just purchased SlingBox for $800million - I think SlingBox is just fine now - no threats from lawsuits and now possible integration into DishNetwork boxes which already have built in HD DVRs, USB support for external storage and soon ethernet support for iPTV and remote DVR scheduling

I can confirm we're still calling it the SlingCatcher (and it's obviously coming this year). Damn typos. :) -DZ, Sling Media
